Where did the bamboos come from?By 1853 disease had wiped out silk worms in the Cévennes. Our ancestors sought replacement eggs first in Northen Italy, then in Turkey, Afghanistan and in 1860-70 in China. They brought back bamboos to plant at Apradis. |
Try the bamboos shootsThey can be eaten raw or cooked with olive oil in an omelette. "The shoots contain 3 % proteins, 2,5 % carbo-hydrate, 0,5 % fat as well as germanium which helps slow down ageing." (cf. Les Bambous par Yves Crouzet, Editions Rustica). |
